The works produced for this Riga exhibition reflect stories about Janina Myronowa’s childhood and youth. Each series of works is devoted to certain memories about her first love, schooling, gardening chores and time spent with her mother, father and sister. The artist has sought to document these memories in order to prevent them from fading, which is of particular significance right now, as some of her family members are living in war-ravaged Ukraine.

The artist work with porcelain, stone mass and clay, creating sculptural forms and stylised figures. She has a distinct and refined stylisation manner, employing both black and white linear drawing and vivid colour combinations.

Janina Myronowa (1987) is of Ukrainian-Polish ancestry and was born in Donetsk, Ukraine. She has spent most of her creative years in Poland, having graduated from the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wroclaw. She has held more than 12 solo exhibitions and taken part in over 100 group exhibitions. She is also an active participant in international residences and symposiums.
