“Order or chaos? A predictable or totally unpredictable subjective free-for-all? Can movement have a dimension? Movement is a form of action for an object or substance transitioning through a specific space. And things in motion leave behind tracks –visible or less noticeable trajectories and angles revealing the existence, character and dynamic of the subject. This is movement within materiality. This time in porcelain.” This is how artist Imants Klīdzējs describes his task in creating his latest works.
In addition to his creative work and taking part in exhibitions and international symposiums, Imants Klīdzējs (1956) is also an art educator. His works from recent years reflect experience and impressions gained on his trips to China. The ideas generated while working in China still have an impact on his style.
Klīdzējs is interested in structure porcelain. In this case, the structure is a component of movement shaping the artwork’s form. His minimalist aesthetic in which texture is crucial is also apparent in the works he has produced especially for this exhibition.
