Opening of the exhibition at 17.00 on 8 November in the Riga Porcelain Museum at 9/11 Kalēju iela, Old Town
When explaining the concept of their exhibition artists Melissa Braden and Inguna Skuja say, “Dogs are actors who play humans in the theatre of life, reflecting the battle between the life and death”. The artists’ tandem and their individualistic and extravagant style is known not only in Latvia, but also abroad. Playful classicism performed with refined mastery on the shapes of baroque-like minimalism. Lustrous porcelain pieces that dazzle eyes and touch hearts. According to the artists the exhibition is a very special, hand-made, piece of art created particularly for excellent people. Braden Skuja offer qualitative enjoyment of art and expect qualitative ability to relish it from the visitors of the exhibition. Each exhibition is an invitation to people to exchange their very best.
For the exhibition in the Riga Porcelain Museum the artists have created new pieces of art – dog portraits where similarities can be traced with the facial features of their owners thus revealing the close link between a dog and its owner. In the pieces of art the portrait of a dog serves as a reflection of a dog’s personality which helps the artists reveal the associative meaning of a topic or symbol.
Everybody who enjoys elegant art and the topic of the dog’s life is welcome to visit the exhibition until 8 December, 2013.
