From 5 to 12 October Rīga Porcelain Museum (Kalēju Street 9/11, Old Town) will offer Dainis Lesiņš’ ceramics solo exhibition “Shadows”.
The exhibition “Shadows” is new and features the porcelain art pieces created this year. Within the collection the artist has found links among the light, shadow and shape. This is a three-dimensional reflection of shadow in porcelain through the shape, colour and texture which are the artist’s most powerful means of expression. They are best observed in his massive and convincing ceramic works that have been expressively processed with colourful glazing. “The shadow is an illusion about the reality, mirage about intentions, dreams, thoughts and feelings. It is a phantasmal journey to quench my thirst for new revelations,” says artist Dainis Lesiņš about his solo exhibition “Shadows”.
Artist Dainis Lesiņš is one of the leading Latvian ceramists. Since year 2000 he has been the Head of the Ceramics Department of the Art Academy of Latvia where he was elected Professor in 2008. He has organized more than ten solo exhibitions as well as regularly participated in exhibitions and symposia in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, Belarus, Finland, Sweden, France and Poland.
This year the Ceramics Department of the Art Academy of Latvia celebrates its 90th anniversary and artist Dainis Lesiņš solo exhibition “Shadows” represents a logical introduction to the celebration events this autumn.
