Invitation to participate for ceramic artists, designers, researchers, art historians and curators.
Theme
The theme for Future Lights 2016 is Incorporating the qualities of hand-crafted work into industrially produced ceramics.
Background
Contemporary consumers are looking for objects which, although mass produced, appear to be unique. Qualities associated with handmade items (e.g. irregular forms, maker’s marks, etc.) are held in high esteem and can add value to industrially produced ceramics. This trend can be seen to great effect in the work of Masahiro Mori.
